IPL 2025 Resumes May 17, Final Set for June 3 | Winexch

With the Tata IPL 2025 set to resume on Saturday, May 17, the race for playoff spots is expected to intensify with every match carrying significant weight. Match predictions have already begun swirling among fans and fantasy league players, with the tournament restarting with a high-stakes clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Bengaluru. This fixture will not only set the tone for the remaining season but could also impact the final four standings. Based on current form and momentum, teams like RCB, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) appear to be in the playoff conversation, while Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are also fighting hard to secure a top-four finish. With player availability still uncertain, especially among overseas stars, Tata IPL 2025 match predictions remain tricky but fascinating as we head into a tightly packed schedule.

On Monday, May 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially confirmed the revised schedule, announcing that the league will resume with 17 remaining matches across six cities. The grand finale is set for June 3, though the venues for the playoff matches—including Qualifiers and Eliminator—are yet to be revealed.

In an official statement, the BCCI said, “The decision to resume the tournament was taken after extensive consultations with government and security agencies, as well as with all key stakeholders.” This comes after the temporary suspension of the IPL following border tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to the abandonment of the May 8 fixture between PBKS and DC in Dharamsala.

Here’s the revised match schedule:

    • May 17: RCB vs KKR – Bengaluru (7:30 PM)

    • May 18: RR vs PBKS – Jaipur (3:30 PM), DC vs GT – Delhi (7:30 PM)

    • May 19: LSG vs SRH – Lucknow (7:30 PM)

    • May 20: CSK vs RR – Delhi (7:30 PM)

    • May 21: MI vs DC – Mumbai (7:30 PM)

    • May 22: GT vs LSG – Ahmedabad (7:30 PM)

    • May 23: RCB vs SRH – Bengaluru (7:30 PM)

    • May 24: PBKS vs DC – Jaipur (7:30 PM)

    • May 25: GT vs CSK – Ahmedabad (3:30 PM), SRH vs KKR – Delhi (7:30 PM)

    • May 26: PBKS vs MI – Jaipur (7:30 PM)

    • May 27: LSG vs RCB – Lucknow (7:30 PM)

    • May 29: Qualifier 1 – Venue TBC (7:30 PM)

    • May 30: Eliminator – Venue TBC (7:30 PM)

    • June 1: Qualifier 2 – Venue TBC (7:30 PM)

    • June 3: Final – Venue TBC (7:30 PM)

Only two doubleheaders remain in the calendar, both scheduled on Sundays, ensuring that each game gets primetime visibility. Notably, the playoff venues are yet to be disclosed, adding further intrigue to the title race.

Interestingly, while early reports suggested that the remaining fixtures could be confined to southern venues like Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, the board has opted for a more diverse spread. The selected cities now include Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Bengaluru. This decision, however, means some franchises—like Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and Punjab Kings (PBKS)—won’t get to play their remaining home games at their regular venues.

CSK will play their final match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi against Rajasthan Royals on May 20, while SRH’s last outing will also be in Delhi against KKR on May 25. Both teams are currently out of playoff contention. PBKS will play all their remaining matches in Jaipur, including the replay of the previously abandoned DC clash on May 24. Mullanpur and Dharamsala are no longer part of the tournament due to security concerns.

Meanwhile, MI will host DC at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on May 21 in what could be a virtual knockout for both teams.

With international fixtures such as the World Test Championship Final beginning just a week after the IPL ends, it remains uncertain how many overseas players—particularly from Australia and South Africa—will return. Their presence, or absence, could significantly alter the dynamics of Tata IPL 2025 match predictions.
